M8 Entertainment Inc. reported today that it has been rated as one of the top 1000 Canadian publicly traded companies by IReport on Business/I magazine. In its annual feature on Canadian publicly traded companies, the magazine listed M8 Entertainment as No. 536 in terms of profit ranking. The magazine ranks the companies according to their after-tax profits in their most recent fiscal year, excluding extraordinary gains or losses. Moreover, among Canadian companies in the entertainment industry, only three other companies finished ahead of M8 Entertainment in profit rank, according to the magazine.
"We are happy that M8 Entertainment is receiving recognition in the business and financial community for its continuing profitability," stated Sammy Lee, Vice Chairman of the Board for M8 Entertainment. "Additionally, we are pleased that we are competing strongly against other companies in the entertainment industry," further added Lee.
M8 Entertainment announced earlier this week that filming is underway on its two new feature film projects, IRunning Scared/I and ILovewrecked/I, as the company gears up production in its strategy of producing, financing and distributing at least six films a year. ILovewrecked/I is a charming teen comedy film which stars Amanda Bynes (IWhat a Girl Wants/I), Chris Carmack (Fox's "The O.C."), Jamie-Lynn DiScala ("The Sopranos"), and Jonathan Bennett (IMean Girls/I). ILovewrecked/I will be directed by Randal Kleiser (director of IGrease/I and IHoney I Blew Up the Kid/I), from a script written by Stephen Langford. Production has also recently begun on IRunning Scared/I, written and directed by up-and-coming director Wayne Kramer (who garnered an Academy Award nomination and two Golden Globe Nominations for his acclaimed debut film IThe Cooler/I). Running Scared is a gritty and pulse-pounding action film starring Paul Walker (star of IThe Fast and the Furious/I and I2 Fast 2 Furious/I). |
