| A series of mysterious corpses arrive at the New York City morgue--all young, healthy men, with no relation except that they all seem to have died of paralyzing fright. Beautiful young TERRY HUSTON (Natascha McElhone) is sent by the NYC Health Department to see if there could be any medical reason for the deaths. Also investigating is MIKE REILLY (Stephen Dorff), a handsome NYPD detective . Together the two discover a link to a sordid website, fear.com, controlled by a bizarre serial killer known as “The Doctor.”
The website features a mysterious, veiled seductress, JEANNIE, who is trapped in the afterlife, living in the wires of the internet in search of the man who murdered her months before. Using fear.com as a cover, Jeannie beguiles men into her world of the Parallax, an alternate reality where fantasy and nightmares control each victim's fate, ultimately driving them to their own death. When Mike and Terry are lured into the Parallax in their search for clues, they must find “The Doctor” to shut down fear.com and save themselves-- before it is too late. |
