| Young journalist Edmund Bigelow (Kip Pardue) spends his days and nights prowling the dark underbelly of Los Angeles, chronicling the city's bizarre and often sexual sub-cultures. He thinks he has seen it all - until he stumbles into a spectacularly terrifying show by the strange illusionist Montag the Magnificent (Crispin Glover). Each night, Montag gruesomely dismembers a female volunteer, only to reveal it to be an illusion. However, as real women begin to turn up dead, with wounds reflecting the tricks on stage, Edmund finds himself inextricably linked to the murders -- and he begins to fear what darkness might lie in his own heart |
