Media 8 Entertainment, a leading film company engaged in the production, financing, acquisition and worldwide licensing of theatrical features in a variety of genres, announced today that it has acquired worldwide rights to the breakout SXSW hit film “The Horseman,” directed by Steven Kastrissios and starring Peter Marshall. The film will make its market debut and will be screened for international buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

“The Horseman” is the debut film from Australian director Steven Kastrissios, who is repped by United Talent Agency. “The Horseman” has been much buzzed about on the festival circuit and has garnered rave reviews both from critics and fans alike. Kastrissios won the “Best Australian Director” award at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival, where the film also won the prize for “Best Australian Film.” “The Horseman” had its US premiere as an official Midnight Selection at the 2009 SXSW Film Festival, where it gained rave reviews.
