Media 8 Entertainment, a leading film company engaged in the production, financing, acquisition and worldwide licensing of theatrical features, announced today that it has acquired all international rights for BRIEF INTERVIEWS WITH HIDEOUS MEN, the acclaimed debut feature from John Krasinski which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. CAA represents the film's domestic rights.
The film will have its premiere market screening for buyers at the Cannes Marche Du Film. “We are very proud to add this film to our lineup,” said Stewart Hall, president of Media 8 Entertainment. “This film is a completely fresh take on modern love, presented in a very smart and sophisticated fashion, and it features fantastic performances across the board.”
“I am very pleased and excited the film will be viewed by audiences internationally thanks to everyone at Media 8,” said Krasinski. “What is wonderful about the book, and what I hope people will draw from our adaptation, is that you see a large variety of different men all in different situations, all of different confidence levels, underscoring the vulnerability in all of us, whether or not we're willing to admit it.”
Based on the best-selling novel by David Foster Wallace, BRIEF INTERVIEWS was adapted for the screen and directed by John Krasinski, star of “The Office” and the upcoming Sam Mendes film Away We Go. The film marks Krasinski's debut as a director, and features an all-star cast, including Dominic Cooper, Timothy Hutton, Chris Messina, Julianne Nicholson, Max Minghella, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Bobby Cannavale.
The film tells the story of Sara Quinn (Julianne Nicholson), a young graduate student who is left heartbroken when her boyfriend leaves her. To remedy both her heartache and her academic challenges, she begins a new research project - conducting a series of interviews with men. As she records the astonishing and disquieting experiences of various subjects, Sara discovers much more about men - and herself - than she bargained for. |
