Media 8 Entertainment has picked up worldwide sales rights to Jackboots on Whitehall, an exciting new animated comedy adventure from writer-directors Edward & Rory McHenry. The picture will be produced by Patrick Scoffin of McHenry Bros. Productions and Karl Richards of UK production outfit Entertainment Motion Pictures (E-Motion).
The animated pic features the voices of a stellar British cast including Ewan McGregor, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall, Rosamund Pike, Alan Cumming and Richard E Grant. The story follows a group of heroic villagers led by Chris (Ewan McGregor), a young farmhand and his sweetheart Daisy (Rosamund Pike) as they rescue Churchill (Timothy Spall) from capture, and fight against the Nazi invasion of England. Principal Photography starts this Summer in London, for an 8 week shoot. The film will boast pioneering techniques in animation, fusing innovative puppeteering animatronics developed by Rory McHenry and VFX by MFX London. Said Stewart Hall, president of Media 8, “We love Jackboots and are excited to bring this project to the international marketplace, because it's so unique. The McHenry brothers have created a perfect mix of hilarious storytelling, with a smart and innovative animated style, and we expect buyers will really respond to this.”
Ed McHenry said: “I'm thrilled that a company with Media 8's reputation and industry positioning will be putting it's weight behind our movie and am looking forward to starting filming this Summer.”
Financing has been packaged by Entertainment Motion Pictures, using a combination of Private Equity & International co-production funds, including Matador Pictures, Motion Investment Group and Arcadia Capital.
Edward & Rory McHenry are repped by Sean Gascoine of London-based United Agents.
