Los Angeles, CA (May 7, 2010) – Media 8 Entertainment, a leading film entertainment company engaged in the production, financing, acquisition, and worldwide licensing of theatrical feature films, announced today that rising young British stars Dominic Cooper (An Education, Mamma Mia!) and Hayley Atwell (Captain America, The Duchess) will play the leads in the new project “The Laureate.” William Nunez wrote and will direct the film, a sexy drama which tells the true story of a love triangle between famed young British poet and writer Robert Graves (Cooper), his wife Nancy, and the passionate young American writer Laura Riding (Atwell). Media 8 Entertainment is handling worldwide sales for the film, and will introduce the project to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Marche Du Film.
Set against the glamorous backdrop of Britain's Roaring ‘20s, “The Laureate” tells the story of young British War Poet Robert Graves, who is married with four children when he meets and becomes romantically involved with Laura Riding, a beautiful writer from America studying at Oxford University. Defying the conventions of polite society, Riding soon moves in with Graves and his wife, living as a ménage a trois – but soon tensions and rivalries among the artistic threesome become so fraught that Graves becomes a suspect for attempted murder. “We are extremely pleased to add 'The Laureate' to our lineup and to bring the project to Cannes,” said Stewart Hall, President of Media 8. “This is a very talented young cast who are perfect for these roles, and this true life story of Graves is fascinating.”
Phillip Moran and Paul Myler are producing the film along with William Nunez. Media 8 will handle worldwide sales. Production is set to begin on the film, in the UK and Ireland, in fall 2010.
