M8 Entertainment Inc. (TSX: MEE.MV.A and MEE.SV.B), a leading film entertainment company engaged in the production, financing, acquisition, and worldwide licensing of theatrical feature films in a variety of genres, announced today that Sony Pictures Entertainment's TriStar Pictures division has picked up North American and all worldwide English-language distribution rights to principal subsidiary Media 8 Entertainment's forthcoming film "Wedding Daze."
"Wedding Daze" is a co-production between Media 8 Entertainment and Handprint Entertainment. Producers on the film are Jeff Pollack, Benny Medina and Jane Berliner, along with Media 8's Sammy Lee. Media 8 Entertainment is also handling international sales for the film.
The deal for the film, which is billed as a high-concept romantic comedy set at a wedding, was announced last week at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California. Matt Flanagan and David McHugh wrote the current screenplay, based on an original screenplay by Colette Burson & Lamar Damon. No director or cast is attached yet.
TriStar, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment relaunched as a genre label last year under president Valerie Van Galder, has two films in postproduction: "Running With Scissors" and "Silent Hill." The unit will also begin production in January on the Sandra Bullock film "Premonition."

Media 8 has also recently acquired all international distribution rights to the Sundance hit "Pretty Persuasion," and has recently signed a five-picture deal last week with Odd Lot Entertainment, which includes international distribution rights to Odd Lot's upcoming adaptation of "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing" starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. |
