M8 Entertainment Inc. (TSX: MEE.MV.A and MEE.SV.B), a leading film entertainment company engaged in the production, financing, acquisition, and worldwide licensing of theatrical feature films in a variety of genres, announced today that Liz Mackiewicz has been named the new Senior Vice President of Worldwide Distribution of Media 8 Entertainment, effective May 1st. In this position, Ms. Mackiewicz will be responsible for overseeing all sales, licensing and distribution activities on behalf of Media 8. Ms. Mackiewicz will represent Media 8 at the upcoming Cannes Film Market, where the company's slate will include the forthcoming adaptation of "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing" starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin, "The Horror Chronicles" trilogy, the supernatural thriller "Eternal" (aka "Reaper"), and "Lovewrecked" starring Amanda Bynes, which was recently acquired by The Weinstein Company.

Liz Mackiewicz comes to Media 8 from First Look Studios, where she has been since 1996, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Distribution. While at First Look, Ms. Mackiewicz was involved with prestigious films such as Julie Taymor's "Titus" starring Anthony Hopkins; John Turturro's "Illuminata;" Julian Schnabel's "Before Night Falls" starring Javier Bardem; Kirk Jones' "Waking Ned Devine;" "Evelyn" starring Pierce Brosnan, Aidan Quinn and Julianna Margulies; the 2006 Sundance favorite, "Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" with Robert Downey, Jr., Chazz Palminteri and Diane Wiest; and Gregg Araki's "Smiley Face" with Anna Faris and Adam Brody.
Prior to First Look, Ms. Mackiewicz was V.P. International Distribution of Cannon/Pathe/MGM International, where she was involved with worldwide sales and film distribution. In addition, as V.P. of International Sales she directed the creation of the International Division at Prism Pictures, Inc. She has also served at Kodiak Films, Inc. as V.P. International Sales. Ms. Mackiewicz is a member of BAFTA, and was on the Board of Directors of AFMA now renamed IFTA. She is currently a Guest speaker for various seminars on international film distribution at the University of California in Los Angeles.
