Media 8 Entertainment, a leading film entertainment company engaged in the production, financing, acquisition, and worldwide licensing of theatrical feature films in a variety of genres, announced today that Jim Harvey has been named the new Vice President of Worldwide Distribution for Media 8 Entertainment. Mr. Harvey will be responsible for overseeing all sales, licensing and distribution activities on behalf of Media 8, and will represent the company at all upcoming markets, including the Toronto Film Festival.
Prior to joining Media 8, Mr. Harvey served as Vice President of Sales for Element Films International, a leading international sales and production company. At Element, Mr. Harvey handled worldwide sales for the company's extensive slate of films, including most recently the Kevin Costner thriller MR. BROOKS, which was released in the U.S. through MGM, and also starred Demi Moore, Dane Cook and William Hurt. While at Element, Mr. Harvey also handled international sales for the drama TULIA directed by John Singleton and starring Halle Berry; THE LAST TIME starring Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser and Amber Valleta; FIVE FINGERS with Ryan Phillippe and Laurence Fishburne; and the comedy COLLEGE starring Drake Bell.
Prior to Element, Mr. Harvey served as Executive Director of Sales and Distribution at Myriad Pictures from 2002 where he was responsible for both theatrical and television sales at domestic and international markets including Cannes, Berlin's European Film Market, and the AFM. At Myriad, Mr. Harvey handled international sales for the Edie Sedgwick bio-pic, FACTORY GIRL, starring Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen, and COPYING BEETHOVEN starring Ed Harris and Diane Kruger, directed by Agnieszka Holland. Prior to Myriad Pictures, Harvey was Director of International Distribution at Lakeshore International. He came to Lakeshore from Summit Entertainment. Harvey is a graduate in Economics from California State University at Northridge.
